Dudley Council is inviting submissions of designs for new public art projects along the new Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension route.
Art Track: Metro Art Programme is a one-year design project to transform the surroundings of the Metro line into a vibrant and welcoming entrance to Dudley for residents and visitors.
The programme will involve the creation of artist concept designs for new permanent and temporary art works, including sculpture, clocks, lighting, photography and community events. Designs will be shown in a public exhibition in Summer 2022 titled Dudley Futures.
Artists can submit expressions of interest now and more information can be found at https://www.regeneratingdudley.org.uk/metro-art-programme.
The deadline for applications is Monday 10 January 2022 at 5pm.
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economic regeneration, said:
"This is a fantastic opportunity for artists to be involved in the regeneration of the borough and have their work showcased in key locations.
"There are some extremely talented artists and designers in Dudley and I would encourage them to submit expressions of interest for this exciting project of national significance."
Mayor of the West Midlands and chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority, Andy Street, said:
"We’re really pleased to be working alongside Dudley Council on this project which will visibly enhance Metro stops and trackside sites along the new route.
"The Wednesbury to Brierley Hill extension is an absolute game changer for Dudley, and I cannot wait to get it open."
This project is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
